The Truth About How to Change Your Limiting Beliefs

As I nearly complete the 2nd edition of "Master the Power of Your Attitudes" I'm clear the most critical aspect we all need to implement is to improve our limiting beliefs.

It's not rocket science - it's well known and well researched, but still we don't do the doing!

We were programmed with our limiting beliefs and also our freeing beliefs from an early age. They occurred through lengthy repetition and practice.

By the time we were young adults - it was done. We now had a mixed set of beliefs that both help and hinder us. And, notably, we had lived long enough to have them all proven "true" in our experience.

Now even when we intellectually and knowingly receive a better "truth", if it's opposite to, or resticted by, an existing belief, however wrong, then we are stuck with the old one. And our life doesn't change, even though we want it to.

In all the study I've done over all the years, all the experience I've had in both positive and negative belief programming spanning normal everyday living, special military and law-enforcement practices and even my spiritual practices - all lead to this truth - To improve your limiting beliefs, you must repeatedly powerfully positively in your own adult voice reprogram your existing beliefs with something better.

There are no shortcuts. Look, if it took you 18 years to learn and have proven to you that your family is welfare dependent, do you really think a magic three days of repeating that you are wealthy amd independant will fix your limiting belief?

Malcolm Gladwell, in his book Outliers, showed that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become a global master at anything.

If you lived in a welfare dependant family for 18 years, and lets say that you spent 12 hours a day awake and in the family, listening, watching talking and experiencing what it's like to be welfare dependent and actually surviving and even having some happy moments - well that's 12X18X365 hours = 78,880 hours! 7 times what's needed to become a global master!

To change our limiting beliefs we need to use every tool we can and be determined, committed and never give up.

The good news is that there is a never ending list of people no smarter than you who did exactly that.

How to do that and what tools we can use to really power up our belief improvement is what I focus on in the 2nd edition of "Master the Power of Your Attitudes"

I think that never before have we needed this more than now,as we enter the most precarious, uncertain and yet promising times ahead.

Right now though this is what you can do: -

1. Pick one limiting belief that really holds you back. Write down exactly what it is e.g. "I can't earn or save enough money to be comfortable."
2. Write down the belief you'd rather have, ensuring that you describe not only your ability but your feelings about it and write it in the present tense e.g. "I'm really grateful and joyous that I'm receiving and saving all the money I desire and more, so that I'm helping others too whilst I remain really comfortable."
3. Collect pictures and images of the things you'll have that demonstrate your achievement of your desire e.g. the house, the car, the clothes etc.
4. Make a vision board or computer/ipod etc screen of your images and put it where you'll see it every day most of the time.
5. Make a track (MP3 etc) of your voice saying the content of 2 above in time with Bach style music (4 beat)and loop it. Play it as you awaken, through the day when it's safe and appropriate (meal breaks etc), just before sleep and through your sleep.
6. Keep a daily journal of your progress, noting what you do every day to embed the belief of your choice. Record your honest feelings - in the beginng you'll notice not much happening, then at some time (different for everyone) you'll notice improvement - build upon that. Also note the setbacks and stumbles - there'll be those too.
7. Never give up, because all those who succeeded before you never gave up either. Giving up is failing.
8. Do not expect rapid results, even though it could happen. Instead be clear you are in it for the long haul.
9. Remember that if you don't stick to it, nothing will change.
10. Realise you have a choice - stick and achieve, or give up and fail. And the time it takes is no longer important.

To your success
